OnRoady

Coming soon to Google Play

Earn money filming the roads you already drive.

OnRoady is a marketplace that connects drivers already on the road to requesters who want to see a specific place at a specific time. Your phone is the camera.

Stripe Escrow
Requester funds held safely until they accept a clip
KYC-verified drivers
Every driver passes identity verification before payout
Auto-blur on upload
Faces and license plates are blurred before anyone sees the clip
Foreground-only location
Location is only accessed while the app is open

For drivers

You are already driving the route. When a requester wants footage from a place on it, OnRoady alerts you. Claim the request, mount your phone, film the clip as you pass, get paid through Stripe.

For requesters

Want to see a place you can't be? Post a bounty โ€” time, location, what you'd like to see โ€” and a nearby driver can claim it and film it on their next pass. You only pay when you accept a match.

How it works

1

Post or claim

Requesters describe what they want to see, where, and in what time window. Drivers in the area get notified if their route overlaps.

2

Submit

A driver claims the request and films it in the OnRoady app on their next pass. OnRoady auto-blurs faces and license plates of bystanders before the requester ever sees it.

3

Review

Requester accepts the clip. Stripe releases the bounty from escrow to the driver's connected bank account.

What people bounty

Travel

โ€œShow me what the coastal drive from Big Sur to Monterey actually looks like on a Sunday afternoon.โ€

Real conditions

โ€œIs Highway 17 flooded near Los Gatos this morning? Real-time footage > news reports.โ€

Project check-in

โ€œCan someone drive by my construction site in Reno on their route this week and film 30 seconds?โ€

Local discovery

โ€œWhat does that new food-truck park in Austin look like from the street?โ€

Safety, privacy, and trust

Bystander blurring

Every face and license plate on an uploaded clip is automatically blurred before the requester (or anyone else) sees the footage.

KYC identity verification

Drivers complete a Checkr background check and Stripe Identity verification before any payout can be released.

Prohibited-use screening

Every bounty is screened against a prohibited-use list to keep the marketplace focused on legitimate curiosity and travel-and-discovery use cases. Three user reports auto-suspend a bounty pending review.

All-party-consent audio

Audio recording is disabled by default in states that require all-party consent โ€” CA, IL, PA, FL, MD, MI, MT, NV, NH, OR, WA, CT. Where enabled elsewhere, drivers are responsible for local compliance.

Drivers are independent contractors and hold their own auto insurance โ€” OnRoady does not insure driving activity. See our Terms of Service and California AB 5 Addendum for details.

Common questions

Do I need a dashcam?

No. Your phone is the camera. You claim a request, mount your phone, and film the clip inside the OnRoady app as you drive past. The app does not import video from a separate dashcam, an SD card, or your photo library. Every clip is filmed live in the app, which is how a requester knows the footage is fresh and from the window they asked for.

Is this legal in my state?

Video recording from a vehicle is legal in every US state. Audio has different rules โ€” see the โ€œAll-party-consent audioโ€ note above. Any specific bounty must also comply with the prohibited-use policy in our Terms.

How much can I earn?

Bounties are set by requesters and typically pay $5โ€“$25 per accepted clip. There are no exaggerated income promises here. Full breakdown on our earnings page.

Who pays whom?

Requester funds a bounty into Stripe escrow when they post it. On acceptance, Stripe releases the bounty to the driver's connected bank account. OnRoady takes a platform fee out of the bounty; no subscription, no upfront driver cost.
